The Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty entered the men’s doubles final.

India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made history after defeating South Korea’s Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol in a thrilling match to enter the final of Thailand Open 2019 on Saturday. The Indian duo took the first game 22-20, however in the second game the South Korean shuttlers fought back brilliantly to clinch the game 24-22 and took the match into the last/third set, Indian Shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty didn’t gave Korean pair any chance and defeat them by a huge margin of 21-9 to book their place in the finals that will take place on Sunday. In the final they will face the Chinese pairing of Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen.

The world no.16 Indian shuttlers previously lost to the world no.2 Koreans in the Australian Open.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag shetty will also be the first Indian doubles pair to break in the top 10 ranking.

Earlier in the Quarterfinals of Thailand Open, the Indian shuttlers of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Korean rivals by 21-17 17-21 21-19 in a match which went exactly for an hour. The win was Rankireddy and Shetty’s maiden victory over the Korean pair of Choi Solgyu and Seo Seung Jae.

On Friday in mixed doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy along with his mixed doubles partner Ashwini Ponappa lost against the Japanese Shuttlers Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino of Japan in straight sets by 13-21,15-21 and match lasted for just 28 minutes.

Earlier, Saina Nehwal and Srikanth Kidambi Crashes out of Thailand open in second round of the Tournament. Sai Praneeth manages to enter in Quarterfinals but couldn’t progressed to Semifinals.
