The World No.1 Kento Momota of Japan lifted the Japan Open 2019 finals title by defeating Jonatan Christie by 21-16,21-13 in straight sets. Last Year also Momota won the Japan Open Finals. The Win came after the Momota made a second-round exit at the Indonesia Open in Jakarta. According to Kyodo news agency Momota Said
“I didn’t get good results last week and I wasn’t confident “.But so many people were rooting for me, and thanks to all to all of you I was able to win. I hope to keep working hard knowing that I have that support.”
In the Women’s Singles, the IN fORM Japanese shuttler Akane Yamaguchi clinched her second title within a week. Earlier she won the Indonesia Open title by winning against PV Sindhu. Akane Yamaguchi grabbed the no.1 Rank after winning the Japan Open 2019 finals. Yamaguchi defeated her fellow shuttler Nozomi Okuhara in Japan Open by 13-21,15-21 the match lasted just 46 minutes.
Momota and Akane Yamaguchi gave Japan their first-ever sweep of the men’s and women’s singles titles on Sunday, raising Japanese hopes for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
