Indian Shuttlers PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal knocked out of Korea Open in the first round.
Star Indian Shuttler PV Sindhu knocked out to the USA’s Shuttler Zhang Beiwen in a three-game battle. PV Sindhu won the starting game easily but the American Shuttler made a solid comeback to win the next two games. PV Sindhu lost the match by 21-7, 22-4, 15-21. On the Other side, Saina Nehwal ended her Campaign after she got injured during the third game. She Played against South Korea’s Kim Ga Eun. Saina Nehwal won the first game by 21-19 but lost the second game by 18-21. In the final game she decided to retire at the time when the score was 1-8.
PV Sindhu who became the first Indian to win World Badminton Championships last month won the first game easily in the First Round of Korea Open but went down by 21-7, 22-24, 15-21 to World No.10 Beiwen. The match lasted for almost 1 hour. The loss for Sindhu was a tough one as had a match point in the second game. But the way American Shuttler made comeback and closed out the match was incredible. With the Win Beiwen ended her three-match losing streak against the Indian Shuttler. The defeat in Korea Open was a second successive early defeat for Sindhu. Previously the 24-year-old lost to Thailand’s Shuttler Pornpawee Chochuwong in the second round of China Open.
In men’s singles, Indian shuttler B. Sai Praneeth made an early exit from the ongoing Korea Open Super 500 tournament after he was forced to retire midway in his first-round match against Anders Antonsen of Denmark on Wednesday. Sai Praneeth looked very uncomfortable in the First game itself, He lost the first game by 9-21. In the second game, he was trailing by 7-11 when he chose to retire because of injury. In China Open last week he lost in Quarterfinals to world no.9 Anthony Sinisuka of Indonesia. Last month he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Basel, ending India’s 36-year drought for a medal in men’s singles category.
