Awards of Badminton: Here is the List of Trophies and cups honored by BWF
Badminton Awards and Trophies are honored by Badminton World Federation (BWF). Below is the list of Badminton Awards awarded by BWF on regular basis.
The Badminton World Federation honors awards to the players, umpires, sponsors and alternative people for his or her accomplishment in court game or for his or her contributions to court game. The BWF includes a system of awards to recognize excellence, accomplishment, enrichment to the game, and the sports community. The Player of the Year awards nominations is done based on the performances of the Players in the several Tournaments held over a year. The method of awards is ruled by the Award laws that detail the choice criteria for every award and defines who will nominate people and organizations for an honor.
Nominations should be received by the executive no later than thirty-one October every year. These are going to be reviewed by the Awards Commission, and proposals are then created to the Administration Committee and so to Council at its November / December meeting.
A short description of the awards is provided below:
|A Certificate of Commendation-||A Certificate of Commendation shall be awarded, wherever applicable, to industrial undertakings and alternative external organizations that have rendered important service to the game for no but 3 years.||Continental Confederations|
|Distinguished Service Award -||The Distinguished Service Award is presented in recognition of long and/or distinguished and exemplary service to badminton at the international level ( at least 15 years ).||Contiental Confederations|
Technical Officials Commission
|Eddy Choong Player of the Year (hiatus since 2008)-||The Eddy Choong Most Promising Player of the Year Award recognizes one individual, an emerging top world talent in the sport. The award reflects promising and up performances across a year.||Awards Commission|
|Hall of Fame-||In Hall of Fame, the BWF honors the players and sometimes administrators who have intensified their game through extraordinary achievements. Nominees are members of the badminton fraternity who have retired from the sport of badminton for a period of five years or more. Read more..||Council|
|Herbert Scheele Trophy-||The Herbert Scheele Trophy is bestowed for outstanding and exceptional services to badminton. Recipients of this award are presented with a replica of the Herbert Scheele Trophy.||Council|
|Lifetime Achievement Award-||The Lifetime Achievement Award is an extremely prestigious award given by the BWF to acknowledge people who have created a big and lifelong contribution towards the advancement and promotion of the game worldwide.||Continental Confederations|
|Para Badminton Player of the Year-||The awards are to honor badminton and Para-badminton talent and top world performance in the sport across a calendar year. The criteria are based on exceptional and consistent performance across a calendar year. This includes the exceptional performance at the Paralympic Games, BWF events, World Championships and Continental Championships.||Awards Commission|
|Male/female Player of the Year-||The Criteria for the player of the year awards for the male and female categories are fully based on the performance of the players in the BWF World Super series events and BWF Major Events – BWF World Championships, BWF Sudirman Cup and the BWF players||Awards Commission|

|Women in Badminton Award-||The Women in Badminton Award acknowledges a private (man or woman) or a company that has created a major contribution towards the involvement of ladies or girls in court game.||Continental Confederations|

The BWF Hall of Fame is to honor players and directors who have increased their sport through exceptional achievements. Nominees comprise members of the court game fraternity who have retired from the game of badminton for an amount of 5 years or longer. Solely in exceptional Circumstances can the Administration Committee think about a recommendation to Council of a candidate who still linked with the sport.
Recipients of the other BWF Badminton awards or honor may be appointive for the Hall of Fame. Nominations could be lodged with the BWF at any time. The Administration Committee makes recommendations to the Council.
